My client wanted her brassy, blonde human hair wig toned down. This wig has its original hair and also sewn in extensions, to create more volume. A wig that's had two separate batches of hair installed at separate times, creates a challenge with toning. Each set of hair has a different age, quality, porosity and different length of time oxidizing. I used a toning shampoo and watched closely. The hair could turn too platinum, grey or pick up the purple color quickly. If this wasn't left on long enough, there would still be too much of a brassy tone on the hair. The result was a greatly improved, cooler blonde. Toning is a balancing act in some situations, especially with a human hair wig.
